DFW Find Your Burger Challenge

Word to the wise: stretchy pants may be required for the news I'm about to share with you.

Chef Tim Love created an epic challenge for the month of February and I was absolutely thrilled to attempt to take it on. What challenge, you may ask? A burger crawl in the Fort Worth through 4 of his restaurants!

I was able to visit 2 of the 4 restaurants and my first stop was Lonesome Dove, where I was lucky enough to try a plethora of small snacks before the main dish was served.

I went in to Lonesome Dove for lunch and had the featured burger which was a 50/50 ground tenderloin and NY strip patty, layered into a respectable double cheeseburger. Can we say succulent? I throughly appreciate someone else who adores burgers just as much as I do and adds cheese on each layer of meat. (Meat. Cheese. Repeat.)

My second stop for the day was Woodshed SmokeHouse. I just knew I had to get the namesake Woodshed Burger! Of course, I’m extra, so I had to throw a egg on top! The Woodshed Burger is tru…

Eat Your Heart Out at Boi Na Braza in Irving, Texas

If Brazil is on your travel list, but you just don’t think you’re going to make it this year, fear
not: Boi Na Braza, a Brazilian Steakhouse just carved out a new location at a hot spot in the DFW Metroplex - The Toyota Music Factory.

This makes the second location in town, as they opened the first in 2000. The new Irving/Las Colinas location, only weeks old, gives you the whimsical feel of brazil with captivating music that will make your toes tap, plus keeps the Caipirinhas (the national cocktail of Brazil) flowing.

With an extensive salad bar of over 60+ items to choose from - ranging from an
assortment of vegetables, salads, to a wide cheese selection and even hot options, there is
definitely something to make picky eaters or even vegetarian diners happy.

And that’s just the first course...

Now lets get to the best part, shall we? Each table is served with Pao De Queijo, (cheese bread), polenta, and breaded bananas to accompany your main course.

Are you full yet? I hope not. Ther…

Bavarian Bierhaus Nashville: A Portal to Germany at Opry Mills

Inside Nashville's Bavarian Bierhaus, steins and lederhosen are optional. A hearty appetite, however, is not.

Whether you're a lifelong German culture and beer enthusiast or just eager to experience something a little different in Music City, I assure you Bavarian Bierhaus will be a fun experience for you.

It's pretty much always Oktoberfest at Bavarian Bierhaus - where the beer (of course) is flowing, and hearty German comfort food awaits. From giant Bavarian pretzels with sweet mustard and beer cheese for dipping, to the roasted crispy pork shank, sausages, or the Kasespaetzle (think German mac and cheese), the portions are hearty and the flavors satisfy the soul.

Bavarian Bierhaus Nashville opened at Opry Mills in 2016 (and thank goodness, that place was no-mans'-land for non-chains). The concept was the dream of two soldiers who spent time serving in Germany. The passion of owner Bob Krumm is evident when he talks about the country, cuisine, culture, and beer.

Fig + Goat Hand-Crafted Cheese & Meat Gathering Boards

You simply cannot go wrong with a cheese + charcuterie board!

It was such a pleasure to spend some time and chat with Rebekah Relander, owner of Fig + Goat to talk about her newest venture and her obvious passion for creatively curating her unique gathering boards. Rebekah has lived in Allen, Texas for the last 15 years, and has a contagious laugh and sweet spirit, and her true passion for gardening is evident when she speaks.

The name, Fig +Goat (which pairs so perfectly together like the foods on the boards themselves) was developed while gardening in the backyard of her home with her two children. Gardening is a true passion for her family - especially her two daughters - who love planting and getting their hands dirty. Their love for gardening quickly grew into an adorable children’s t-shirt line featuring veggies (you can find these also on her website linked below). With t-shirt slogans like: "we got the beets", "lettuce have courage and kindness", and more,…

Perry's Steakhouse Opens in Grapevine, Texas

When you step into Perry’s Steakhouse in Grapevine, you’re stepping into a haven of effortless luxury. Every detail is designed to make your lunch, Happy Hour, or dinner one to remember. Curved leather booths are the perfect spot for your upcoming Valentine’s Day romantic dinner, or book one of their private dining options for up to 100 for your next celebration. The dining room at Perry’s is designed with an open view into the kitchen, so no matter where you sit you’re able to peek into the kitchen to see the special dishes they’re cooking up for you.

Calling your first bites starters seems unfair to these plates of perfection. Start your night with jumbo lump crab cakes topped with potato haystacks, made with perfectly fresh crab that will have you thinking you were in Maine rather than the middle of the Dallas metroplex.

Your next plate might be the night’s winner. Perry’s famous 7-finger pork chop is delicious, and they have added a dish available exclusively at Bar 79, Perry’s b…
