Heritage Pizza Grand Opening Celebration April 21

Heritage Pizza and Taproom opened recently in The Colony (see my writeup in Plano Magazine), and will officially celebrate their grand opening with a full day of festivities open to the public on Friday, April 21.

The first 100 guests who arrive for lunch at 11am will receive a free t-shirt, koozie, and free pizza voucher for a future visit. Take advantage of their new Heritage lunch special: a personal sized pizza and Heritage Ranch Salad, available Monday-Friday from 11am-3pm for $9.99.

From 3-7pm on Friday, The Ticket 96.7 Sports Talk Radio's Hardline's Corby Davidson and Mike Rhyner will be broadcasting live from the restaurant. The Colony Chamber of Commerce official ribbon cutting will occur at 4pm.

To further the festivities, the first 100 people at 6pm to partake in the Martin House Pint Night by buying a pint of their featured brew will get to keep the signature glass and also receive a free Heritage Pizza growler (not including fill).

On the food side of things, while you're there I recommend trying The Cowboy Pizza, which is topped with boneless wings, buffalo sauce, sliced celery, sharp Cheddar, bacon, Bleu Cheese, and their summer camp ranch drizzle. If you're looking for a snack with your pint, might I suggest the Stuffed Mushrooms or Pretzels with Beer Cheese Fonduta.

Get Saucy at Razzoo's Cajun Cafe Plano

I've long been a fan of Razzoo's Cajun Cafe, a Texas born restaurant that features scratch-made Lousiana favorites. All locations are locally owned, and the 26-year-old restaurant has most of its locations in Texas, with one in NC, and some new spots TBA in the near future. Some of my favorite fried indulgences at Razzoo's are the "Rat Toes" on their appetizer menu. If you love a bit of spice, ignore the name and order up some of these jalapenos stuffed with shrimp, crab, then battered and fried, served with a Cajun Buttermilk sauce for dipping. A Tribute to El Palacio of Mexican Food, Huntsville, Alabama

This week a large piece of my childhood will be laid to rest. I know you think I'm being overly dramatic, but if you've ever had an iconic place where you've spend a large chunk of your life, I hope you'll understand where I'm coming from on this.  I have literally 24 other restaurant story deadlines to meet, but today the only thing on my mind is the news I received yesterday.
